About
I am Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Helsinki. I hold a PhD in Ethnic Relations from the University of Warwick (1997).
The courses I teach include: Introduction to Sociology; The History of Sociology; The History of Sociology in the Nordic Countries; The History of Sociology in Finland; Classical Sociology; Sociological Theory; Advanced Sociological Theory; Criminology and Deviant Behavior; Finland-Swedish Studies; The Swedish-speaking Finns as a Minority; The Multicultural Society; Ethnic Relations; Immigration and Ethnicity; Ethnicity, Nationalism and International Migration; National Minorities; Cultural Sociology; Introduction to Social Anthropology; Seminar in General Sociology; Advanced Seminar in Sociology; Research Seminar in Sociology; Doctoral Course in Social Theory; Qualitative Research Methods in Sociology; Fieldwork and Ethnography; Basics in Quantitative Sociological Research Methods; Introduction to Scientific Writing; as well as various shorter courses and general lectures. I also supervise theses at all levels, as well as take care of course administration and coordination of research projects.
