About
My field of study is the relation of ancient Greece with the wider eastern Mediterranean, especially in the pre-Classical Period. In this context, I investigate specific cases of interaction and the transmission of cultural elements, with focuses on Greek literature and on the role of Anatolia. I am also interested in questions of method (approaches, terminology, etc.), the history of research, and in how results from this field affect ideas concerning the 'originality' of Greek culture and the origins of 'modern western culture'.
