About
Current Research:
Paavo Kotiaho is a member of the Finnish Graduate School in Human Rights Research, which is co-ordinated by the Institute for Human Rights at Åbo Akademi University, and funded by the Academy of Finland. Kotiaho's current research is focused on studying the history and theory of international human rights law in the global political economy. His broader research agenda is situated in the leftwing international legal project motivated by a particularly keen interest in understanding the socio-historical role of international law and the international legal profession in the reproduction of contemporary social relations.
Paavo Kotiaho is the executive editor of the Finnish Yearbook of International Law.
Special fields of interest:
Legal theory and practice; international law; international human rights law; Marxism; law and psychoanalysis; law and semiotics; human rights and activism.
